Viva La Raza!

This past weekend, we had our biennial Villareal family reunion. This reunion is for my maternal grandmother's side of the family. This year it was held in Seadrift, TX, and unlike most years, ALL of my grandmothers living brothers and sisters were there. There are 8 of them still living, out of 12ish :). Here is a picture of all of them:
My mom had all of her sisters there. We actually had ALL of our family there this year...picture of that to come soon - for some reason it didn't end up on my camera!
Here are my wonderful/crazy grandparents. They were the highlight of my trip! I love them so much, and I'm so thankful that they are around. Alfredo and Theresa Salazar:
Despite all the relatives and fun we were having, I managed to get a picture with my brother. He's always so serious: Except when it's time to shove his face in a cake. In true birthday fashion, his face was shoved in his cake for his 15th birthday:Each year there are games that each family must play and we compete against each other. This year the big game was called "boardwalk." It's funny to watch people try to work together when they are used to it. Our family usually wins a minimum of 2 events (at the last reunion we won all of them!). This year we had 2 teams entered in this event and this was the winning team. Bryan, my aunt Darlene, my mom, and Toney (Darlene's boyfriend). The funny part is that Toney is the most talkative of our bunch...imagine me times 10 if you can :). Bryan of course is the 2nd most quiet (a close 2nd to Tony O., or as we call him T.O. - he's Paige's boyfriend). My mom and Darla talk/yelled at each other, it was hard to get them started, but once they did, they tore it up. The first time around they had a time of 1:36, the second time they did 1:21!
The kids tried, but it was a little hard for them:
Carter and his cousin Thomas, well, they were inseparable. They are both 8, and they only get to see each other every 2 years. Hopefully that will change, I am trying to work it out so that Thomas can come stay a couple of weeks with us this summer. They were the winners of the kids game...and had a TON of fun. It was a great reunion, and it was so fun to see everyone again. It was pretty hot, but since we were shaded, it wasn't too bad. What Mexicans do you know that have a problem being in the heat??? We spent just enough time with everyone to miss them for the next 2 years! I love you all, and already miss my family...
